Improve iPhone Battery Life By Disabling Ping [iPhone Tip]

Some of our readers had noticed significant decrease in battery life after upgrading to iOS 4.3 and were hoping that it will be fixed in iOS 4.3.1.

But Apple didn’t mention in the release notes whether the issue was fixed in iOS 4.3.1 even though there were rumors that iOS 4.3.1 might also improve the battery life of the iOS device.

Users are reporting that the issue is addressed after disabling Ping, Apple’s social network for music.

Apple had added a feature to enable push notifications for Ping in iOS 4.3 and also the ability to disable Ping via Parental controls.

So if you’ve noticed decrease in battery life after upgrading to iOS 4.3 and it didn’t get fixed even after upgrading to iOS 4.3.1 then you can try to disable Ping to see if it helps.

You can disable Ping by following these simple steps:

  • Launch the Settings app.
  • Tap General, then Restrictions.
  • Tap Enable Restrictions.
  • Enter the passcode, which is required to enable restrictions (and to access it later). Please make sure it’s something you can remember.
  • Toggle Ping to Off.
  • You can try this out if you’ve noticed a similar issue on your iPadand iPod Touch after upgrading to iOS 4.3.

Have you seen a significant decrease in battery life after upgrading to iOS 4.3? Please let us know how if the battery life improved by disabling Ping in the comments below.
